THIS page is for you. Let’s just be men talking about men stuff.

EQUATOR HYPNOTHERAPY/ COUNSELLING – offering therapy for MEN with MEN issues:

    Presenting Problems by Men

The increased demand placed on men in recent years has seen an increase in pressure created around the workplace and home. This stress, and the new, complicated role requirements men face today, often result in the following types of problems, often seen in therapists’ offices today:

The problems men experience today often result in, or are influenced by, the emotions of FEAR and SHAME .Fear and shame result from messages that men are not doing the job – in the work place, or at home.

    Men’s Relationship Issues

Men generally do not need verbal communication about feelings or “talks” about the relationship. Nor do they need direct, verbal validation of their feelings or needs. Men have a natural, biological proclivity toward interaction with the environment, more so than the verbally based interactions that women desire. They do need to know they are appreciated, respected and loved. And men are often quite satisfied by having these needs met with direct, physically nurturing behaviours by their partners.

Sexual performance is compromised when men connect to distorted thoughts that create anxiety. The anxiety can be associated to low self esteem, lack of experience or to much pornographic material exposure.

    Lack of Motivation

“Lack of motivation and lack of enthusiasm are two of the main reasons for failure and of living a mediocre life.”

Lack of motivation and enthusiasm can show up everywhere, at home, at work, in relationships, in pursuing goals and in everything else. This often, creates indifference, unhappiness and dissatisfaction.

When men say ‘no’ to counselling

For many men, the idea of seeking help, either medically or emotionally, is a serious challenge. By their nature they tend to rely on their inner resources.Resorting to external help is perceived as a threat to their sense of independence and self-reliance, so they often ignore or minimise pain, both physical and emotional. Research shows that in some cases this tendency can be critical to men’s well-being and health. To deal with this challenge, men might need support from people they trust to normalise the act of seeking help.

We have seen that people who utilise counselling services are often high-functioning and successful in many aspects of their lives. It is unfortunate that many men who struggle with stress, anger or unhealthy relationships are missing out on something that could boost their personal power and satisfaction with life.

    Testimonials

    ADAM 41 – Sales Manager

“I felt real shame around not being able to get an erecting after we had our second child. I couldn’t talk to my wife and just kept this issue to myself, avoiding sex and intimacy. This went on for 18 months until I found Joe and was able to start taking back control. Joe was so easy to talk to and he made me feel comfortable to just tell the truth”.

    MITCH 36 – Graphic Designer

“I was angry all the time. I did not understand why and just got more and more verbally abusive to friends and family. It escalated in physical abuse when I was out with the boys one night. Joe really helped me to understand what fuels my anger and how I was in total control once I became aware of this. Joe changed my life!”

    ALEX 22 – Personal Trainer

“I felt stuck in my life, my job and my relationship. I was not happy and wanted to run. RUN away! I knew I had to make a change and stop blaming others for all my problems. After losing my licence for drink driving I started seeing Joe to start to turn my life around. Its been a bumpy journey but I am so glad I took it”.
