“Are you tired of online dating? Everyone’s doing it these days, but like any endeavor you shouldn’t put all your eggs in one basket. Here are some offline ideas you can try to find new friend, a date for Friday night, or maybe even the love of your life!

First let’s review a few tips to make each of these ideas work.

Success Tips to Keep in Mind
1. Have a simple goal of making new friends. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Seek to find a great friend and see where things lead.

2. Commit to saying “Hi” first. Don’t be shy. Perhaps set a goal of saying hi to 5 people a day. Start with one a day and then work your way up.

3. Smile and have fun. Everyone looks better with a smile.

4. Be open to meeting new people anywhere and everywhere.

5. Always be dressed and groomed to meet new people even if you’re just running out to get milk. You just may meet that someone special in the dairy isle!

6. Conversation success tip: Be interested in others and ask lots of questions.

7. Don’t be afraid of rejection. You’ve got nothing to lose!! What’s the worst that could happen? Someone will laugh at you? That’s hardly likely. And even if they do, who cares! Just say “Next!” and move on!

8. Go slow for safety and success. Never rush into anything. Go slow.

The following interview is with a good friend of mine from many years ago when I lived in Melbourne, Joe Busuttil. The changes I have seen in Joe over the years are staggering; when I reminisce on the early days when we first met it seems like a lifetime ago and it could almost be the lives of two different people that I am reflecting upon.Right from the start I had a quiet respect for Joe and all that he had achieved; Joe has always had a passion for helping people. For guidance and suggestions to work, enhanced control is required, not less.Do people ever not wake up from a state of hypnosis?Getting stuck in hypnosis doesn’t happen. It is very true that some people enjoy this complete state of mental relaxation to the point that they would rather stay in hypnosis for a while longer than come back to a more stressful conscious situation. But they all come back when they are ready. Remember hypnosis engages some parts of the brain that are not active during natural sleep. You will have to come out of hypnosis first before you can drift into natural sleep.Do clients remember what happened while they were hypnotised?That depends on how deeply you go into hypnosis and whether or not you’re instructed to remember or not remember by the hypnotherapist. In the light stage, people remember most of what happened to the extent their memory allows. In the medium to very deep stages not remembering (amnesia) some portions or all of the session is an anticipated normal characteristic of those depths. In general meditations on dependent-relationship are very good for developing insight into the way that everything in our life is inter-related. It shows you that if one area of your life is out of balance, then that will affect other parts of your life detrimentally. Similarly, if you focus on getting one imbalanced area of your life back into balance and harmony, then that will affect pretty much all other areas of your life in a positive way too.
Explore and learn the Chinese five element cycle via guided meditation, specifically as it relates to our mental and emotional qualities. Here is a brief summary of the five elements, together with their mental and emotional characteristics (emotional section includes emotion when balanced, and the emotions when imbalanced:

Chakra meditation for balancing is the practice of meditating and visualization that opens up and clears all the seven Chakras. It starts from the root and moves through the navel to the chest, throat, forehead and crown. As each Chakra is stimulated, it gets balanced and the positive effects are noticed immediately. Once this is done, you will have a better feel for the world around you and relate to it in the most optimal way both physically, emotionally and spiritually.An unbalanced Chakra can make you not enjoy the benefits of maximum health. It can cause you to have problems in relationships and to have feelings of insecurity, fear etc. This is why Chakra balancing is encouraged to be done regularly. However, excessive mental energy can have negative effects on those who are not used to abundant physical activity.

Celebrating YOU!

Take a typical day in your life when something good happens. It may be a compliment from a co-worker, a gift from a friend or a genuine “thank you” for something you have done.
Do you allow yourself to really soak in the praise, congratulate yourself for doing well or think to yourself, “yes, I deserve this” and let the warm glow last all day? Or, do you find a way to shrug off the compliment, downplay your success or remind yourself of the 50 others things that you didn’t do, so that any little glimmer of good feeling gets squashed as quickly as you can? So many of us spend most of our time, going over the things we did wrong, the mistakes of the past, the times when we were rejected, ridiculed or hurt. If you are casting suspicious eyes at the next person who is nice to you, ask yourself why? You are allowed to feel good! You deserve to be treated well. You are talented, capable, kind, funny, trustworthy, loving, intelligent and gorgeous. Is some little voice in your head right now arguing with this as you read? Treat yourself the way you want others to treat you. Lavish yourself with love and kindness. When you find yourself thinking “they are just being nice” when someone compliments you, then there is only one thing to do. Say “thank you”, smile and soak it up! Put your focus on all the things you do right, rather than the one or two that didn’t produce the result you wanted. Expand that glow of feeling good and celebrating your wonderful self and challenge yourself to really make it last. If you can keep the feelings for an hour, double them next time.

Find something that you love about yourself and when you do, look for more! Celebrate your unique self and feel how good it is to build yourself up, instead of tearing yourself down. You can do it and you deserve it!

Quit Smoking Tips

Sometimes it’s knowing these extra practical tips that can make the difference between success and failure when quitting smoking. Here are some to help you:-

  1. Choose a date that is right for you – try to avoid the good intentioned but normally unsuccessful New Year resolutions idea
  2. Make sure you have thought about at least 3 clear reasons why it is important for you to stop smoking now. Write these down and carry them wherever you go.
  3. More often than not quitting smoking completely tends to work better than cutting down. Cutting down gradually means smoking is constantly on your mind and as you remind yourself how many you are allowed to smoke today.
  4. It is better to stop smoking before you get any bad health news. An upsetting diagnosis adds more stress to your life. Sometimes but not always the shock of the news often is enough make some people “see the light” and to stop smoking
  5. Make sure your reasons for stopping smoking are motivating enough. By all means have reasons that are driven by fear eg. cancer (these are called “away-from” motivators because you want to get away-from or avoid them. Don’t forget to have “towards” motivating reasons too eg. feeling fitter (towards motivating reasons are the things that attract us and what we desire such as smoother skin and healthy looking hair)
  6. Choose a date when you know your stress levels are likely to be lower or on an even keel. Don’t choose a busy time at work, with deadlines to meet, as the best time to stop smoking
  7. Decide to quit smoking for yourself – don’t let anyone cajol or pressure you into quitting before you are ready to do it.
